Sonasi Sweep
A free, open-source Mac cleaner that reads before it deletes. Smart Scan finds reclaimable space across caches, duplicates, large & old files and apps — and everything goes to the Trash, undoable for 30 days. A CleanMyMac alternative.
Overview
Sweep is a native Mac cleaner with one rule: safety first. It reads your Mac and shows you a list — nothing is removed until you say so. Everything it cleans goes to the Trash, and every clean stays undoable for 30 days.
One Smart Scan covers every category at once: system junk and caches, mail attachments, duplicate files matched by content, large & old files, developer caches, and the Trash itself. A Disk Map shows where the space actually went.
The Uninstaller removes an app together with the files it left behind — and for system-installed apps it asks for your admin password once, then moves them to the Trash, just like Finder. Login Items and unused language packs are a click away.
Sweep runs entirely on your Mac. It has no servers and no account, it only reads where files live, and the policy for what's safe to delete lives in a separate, auditable rule file. It's free and open source (MIT), signed and notarized with an Apple Developer ID.
Features
Smart Scan
One pass across every category, with a list you approve. Nothing is removed until you say so.
Trash-first, always
Everything cleaned goes to the Trash and stays undoable for 30 days — never deleted outright.
System junk

Large & old files
Big files you haven't opened in months, wherever they live on your Mac.
Disk Map
See where the space actually went and drill into any block.

Questions
Will Sweep delete anything on its own?
No. Every clean is a list you approve first, and everything goes to the Trash — you can restore it from History for 30 days. Emptying the Trash is the only permanent step, and it is always your choice.
Does it send my data anywhere?
No. Sweep runs entirely on your Mac, has no servers and no account, and only reads where files live. The rules for what is safe to delete ship in a plain, auditable file.
Can it uninstall apps like Microsoft Office?
Yes. It removes the app together with its leftover files. System-installed apps are owned by macOS, so Sweep asks for your admin password once and moves them to the Trash — the same thing Finder does.
How are duplicates found?
By a full SHA-256 hash of each file's contents, never by filename — so only genuinely identical files are matched, and the newest copy is kept.
Is it really free?
Yes. Sweep is free and open source under the MIT license. No account, no subscription, no ads.
Why isn't it on the Mac App Store?
A cleaner needs broad filesystem access that the App Store sandbox forbids. So Sweep is distributed signed and notarized with an Apple Developer ID, outside the store.
Which languages does it support?
English, Tiếng Việt and 日本語 (Japanese), detected automatically from your Mac and switchable in Settings.
